How to Track QR Code Scans and Measure Campaign Success

10 June 2025

Why track QR code scans?

A printed QR code is a campaign channel — but without analytics, it is a black box. Tracking scans answers questions like: How many people interacted with this flyer? Which table tent gets the most scans? Did the lunch menu code perform better than the dinner code? Scan data turns a printed code into a measurable campaign asset.

How dynamic QR code tracking works

Each dynamic QR code points to a short redirect URL (e.g., qr-once.com/r/menu23). When a phone scans the code and follows the redirect, our server logs the event before forwarding to the final destination. Qronce records a timestamp for every scan and makes the data available in your dashboard. You can see total scans, scans per day (30-day chart), and export the complete scan log as a CSV file.

Metrics that matter

Total scans tells you overall engagement. Scans over time reveals patterns — does a code get more scans on weekdays? After a menu change? Per-code breakdown lets you compare performance of different placements (table 4 vs table 12). The CSV export gives you raw data for custom analysis or client reporting.

Tracking without overcomplicating

Qronce keeps tracking simple. Each code has a total counter, a per-day series chart, and a one-click CSV export. No dashboards full of vanity metrics, no complex setup. If you need UTM parameters, Qronce auto-appends them to redirects (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign) so scans flow into your Google Analytics as traffic from QR codes.

Create your first dynamic QR code

Print once, redirect forever. Change the destination any time from the dashboard — the printed code never changes.
